It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Colleen Virtanen in her 78th year, one month short of her 79th birthday (November 11th), in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. Dearly loved wife of the late Elvo Virtanen. Loving mother of Mark and Shannon (Dan). Sister of Wayne Hartle (late Pat), Linda Ball (Kelly). Grandmother of Krysia Virtanen (Cody MacDonald), Lucas Virtanen (Maggie Opal). Loving life partner to the late Gord Haight. Loved by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Childhood friend of Gladys Diamantini (Don). Special cousin to Ralda Dye (Don). Fondly remembered by the Patterson Family. Mom found the love of her life and married Elvo Virtanen in Toronto, Ontario. They moved to Wawa, Ontario in the late 1950’s where they built their home at 13 Ross St., raised a family, and made many wonderful friends. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Ontario Finnish Resthome Association. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Finnish Resthome for their tireless and compassionate care. Friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E, 705-759-2522) on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 12:30 – 2:30 pm. A memorial service to follow in the chapel at 3 pm with Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
