It is with great sadness that we announce after 33110 days of life, the peaceful passing of Mary Walton in her 91st year on February 28th 2021. Mary will be reunited with her husband of 56 years Charlie, who predeceased her in 2009. Originally from Kapuskasing, Mary is survived by her children, Duncan (Pina), Laurie, Scott, and Mark (Ann). Also, by her grandchildren, Kyle (Kristen) Walton, Christina Walton, and Rachael (Jared) Park and one great grandchild Declan Park. Mary was predeceased by her mother Mary Priatka and sister Anne Priatka both of Kapuskasing, and sister Kay Herrington (Bob) of Toronto. Mary was a fantastic baker and cook whose butter tarts and cabbage rolls were second to none. She was also a prolific knitter who knit miles of prayer shawls for the sick and elderly over the years. She started the educational lives of hundreds of children as a kindergarten teacher in Sault Ste. Marie at Manitou Park, Anna McCrea, Central and East View Public Schools where she also came back to play piano for recitals and Christmas sing-a-longs after retirement. She also enjoyed painting and bowling and sewing over the years. Mary loved family gatherings with her children and extended family. The family would like to thank the SAH critical care wing for their care and the wonderful staff at ARCH who helped with mom’s peaceful and comfortable passing. As per Mary’s wishes a private family service will take place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Mary to ARCH Hospice for their great work or the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East. 705-759-2522).  Please visit Arthur Funeral Home website obituaries to leave memories and condolences as a keepsake for the family.
