Gerald died peacefully with family at his side one week before his 87th birthday. He will be forever missed by his beloved wife of 59 years Lynn. Gerald leaves behind son Bill Wickett and daughter Patti Gjos (late David Gjos). Proud Grampa of Sarah Gjos, Lucas Gjos (Tiffany Senko) Becca Gjos, Liam Wickett. Predeceased by his brothers Jack Wickett (late Millie), Bobby Wickett, Kenny Wickett (Isabelle), and sisters Tina Fost, June Walton (late Jim) Keitha Carter (late Art).  Will be greatly missed by sisters and brothers in laws Bobby Dowe (Wilma), Helene Caulsey (late Chuck), Tom Dowe (Norma), Shirley Robert (Eddie), Pat McCreight (late George).  Gerald was greatly loved and leaves behind many nieces and nephews.  Gerald was fiercely proud of his Thessalon roots. He was a true family man and always ready for adventure. Happy and fun loving Gerald loved a party, gathering with family, neighbours, and friends, whether at camp on Rock Lake or our little house on Glenwood it was “the more the merrier”. Gerald loved any chance to play on days off from the Steel plant. Fishing, picnics, beach days, cross country skiing, dancing the night away, card parties, and trips to Poplar Dale were all on the list. Retirement after 37 years in the steel mill lead to another 16 years at the Gardens as doorman and Greyhound fan. Our dad filled our lives with laughter. But this past eight years it’s been because of moms quiet courage, enduring strength, boundless devotion and tender loving care that our father was able to enjoy all the comforts of being at home. You have truly been dads angel here on earth.  Our thanks to all the staff at Cedarwood Lodge for the compassion and care. Because of you Gerald's final months were peaceful. The family would also like to acknowledge the ongoing support of the SSM Indian Friendship Centre for help in so many ways.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 2 pm until 5 pm in the Ontario Suite at the Delta Waterfront Hotel (208 St. Mary's River Dr.). Memorial contributions made (payable by cheque) to Cedarwood Lodge or the SSM Indian Friendship Centre would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton and Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East - 705-759-2522).
