Judy passed away peacefully at the Ontario Finnish Resthome on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the age of 91. Wife of the late Nello. Loving mother of Yvonne (Mike) McWatters and Jim (Sherri) Zorzit. Nonna of Elizabeth (Brandan), Ryan (Rachelle), Eric (Christina), and Colin (Carla). Great grandmother of Emalena, Lennon, Gabriel and Charlie.

Judy was born to Lucia and Orlando Masotti and raised in Rivis, Italy, along with her four siblings. She is survived by her youngest sister, Alma (late Enio) Mucchiut and many nephews and nieces, all of Italy. As a young girl, she would write to her aunt in Calgary, and eventually decided to leave her life in Italy for a new one in Canada. She started out in Pincher Creek, working in a hospital and studying hard learning English from scratch, then a move followed to Sault Ste. Marie where she worked as a Nurse Assistant (RPN) at the General Hospital. Judy met Nello in 1955, got married, and started a family. She took care of everything and everyone as family meant everything to her. Judy and Nello had a huge vegetable garden and flower gardens. The beautiful flower gardens were hers, but she never hesitated to grab a shovel or rake to help Nello. She also loved singing in the church choir, and at home. You always knew where she was as she went about her daily routine. She also loved sitting down over a meal with her family… homemade ravioli, pasta, soups, desserts, bread… everything… it was all so good.

Judy and Nello made the long treks to New Brunswick and Petawawa to visit and help Yvonne and Mike, and to Windsor to visit Jim, Sherri, and the grandkids. Remembered are the many delicious jars of homemade sauce with homemade meatballs that she made for her kids to take home to New Brunswick, Windsor, or wherever her kids and grandkids were. She always wanted to help us, and she always did.

A graveside service will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Friends and family are asked to meet at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) at 2:30 p.m. to participate in the procession to the Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Ontario Finnish Resthome Association (OFRA) would be greatly appreciated. A special thank you to Dr. White and all of the staff of B Wing at MKK for their care and compassion, and Christine, for all those chats that Judy enjoyed so much. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758). www.northwoodfuneral.com
