Man charged after allegedly stealing vehicle that had four-year-old on board

TORONTO — A Toronto man is facing multiple charges after police say he stole a vehicle that had a four-year-old child on board over the weekend.

Police also allege the suspect had stolen another vehicle on Sunday night before the incident.

They allege he was seen driving a stolen Mazda 5 shortly before 9:30 p.m., then parked that vehicle and stole a Toyota Corolla.

About an hour later, police allege he parked the Toyota and stole a Dodge Journey, which had a child in the back seat.

Investigators say the Dodge was found shortly afterwards not far from where it was stolen, with the child unharmed in the back seat.

The suspect, a 23-year-old man, was arrested Monday and charged with multiple offences, including two counts of theft of a motor vehicle. He is due in court this morning.
