Ontario reports 232 new COVID-19 cases, a second day exceeding 200

TORONTO — Ontario is reporting more than 200 new cases of COVID-19 for a second straight day.

There were 232 new cases of the coronavirus today, following 213 cases on Friday and 170 on Thursday.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says Toronto is reporting 77 cases, with 62 in Peel Region and 27 in Ottawa.

Like Friday, Elliott says roughly two-thirds of today's cases are in people under the age of 40.

She says 26 of the province's 34 public health units are reporting five or fewer new cases with 14 reporting none.

More than 35,000 tests were completed over the last 24 hours.
