30-year-old Saultite faces impaired driving and speeding charges

PLUMMER ADDITIONAL TOWNSHIP - On June 30, 2017, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol on Highway 17 in Plummer Additional Township.

Shortly before 7 p.m., police observed an eastbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 17 and initiated a traffic stop. When speaking with the driver, the officer determined the driver had been consuming alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Jesse Macrea, 30 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Driving with More than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Driving While Ability Impaired-Motor Vehicle, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the CC;
  • Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA); and with
  • Speeding, contrary to section 128 of the HTA.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on July 25, 2017.
