Bruce Mines resident accused of assaulting elderly victim

BRUCE MINES – On May 29, 2020 at approximately 6 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of an historical assault that took place at a residence on Pilgrim Street in the Town of Bruce Mines.  

Police determined that approximately two weeks prior, the elderly victim was pushed off a chair to the ground by the accused.     

As a result of the investigation, Devin Toye, age 36 from Bruce Mines, was charged with assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code.  

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Aug. 6, 2020.
