Crash at Highway 17 and 552 intersection leads to impaired charge for driver

FENWICK TOWNSHIP - On April 20, 2019 at approximately 7:15 p.m. members from the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police responded to a motor vehicle collision with no injuries at the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 552.

As a result of further investigation, a 35-year-old of Goulais River, Ont. was charged with the following:

  • Care or control of a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Driver fail to surrender licence, contrary to section 33(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 27, 2019 located at 426 Queen St., Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
