Domestic disturbance results in assault charge

ABERDEEN TOWNSHIP –  On May 1, 2020 at approximately 1:06 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to domestic dispute which was occurring on Centre Line Road within Aberdeen Township (west of the Town of Bruce Mines).

Police determined on the evening of April 30, 2020, that a couple had an argument where it escalated to where the victim received several punches in the head. 

As a result of the investigation, a 57-year-old from Aberdeen Township was charged with: 

  • Assault - spousal, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on June 4, 2020.
