Driver faces impaired charge after collision with boat trailer

Police say the vehicle left before police arrived

 A 46-year-old Wawa man is facing charges connected with the impaired operation of a vehicle, according to a news release from the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.

On June 16 around 3 p.m. police received a report that someone had struck a boat trailer and nearby vehicle on Superior Avenue in Wawa. The suspect vehicle left the scene prior to police arrival, the release said.

However, police say officers located the driver and following an investigation determined he had been drinking.

 Jeremy Mortimer was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while Impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Failure to stop after accident

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice July 10 in Wawa.
