Early morning call leads to charges

An early morning investigation led to two charges

BATCHEWANA FIRST NATION -  On July 9, 2017 at approximately 1:40 a.m., Batchewana First Nation Police, assisted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to an assault complaint in the 2000 block of Mission Road.

Investigation revealed that a physical altercation occurred between two females at which point one of the females allegedly began driving a vehicle that struck another female at the scene.    

As a result of police investigation, 28-year-old Tiffany Gardiner of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault contrary to Section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Assault with a weapon contrary to Section 267(a) CC  

The accused was released on Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on Aug. 14, 2017.
