Echo Bay woman charged with impaired after traffic complaint in Wawa

WAWA – Superior East OPP say they've laid an impaired driving charge after an incident that took place in Wawa last week. 

In a release issued this morning, police say they responded to a traffic complaint at around 11:50 p.m. on Nov. 3 on Broadway Avenue in Wawa after the accused was allegedly seen driving erratically in a pickup truck before parking it on someone's front lawn. 

Upon arrival, police established that the driver was impaired by alcohol, and as a result, Riley Willet, 30 from Echo Bay, was arrested and charged with:   

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and 
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC.  

She was issued a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS). 

Willet was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Dec. 7 in Wawa.
