UNDERCOVER PROJECT NETS $623,000 IN DRUGS
(Hearst, ON.) The Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, South Porcupine Drug Unit supported by the OPP Hearst Detachment have charged 14 individuals with drug related offences following arrests conducted in the Town of Hearst on Wednesday April 24, 2013.
The charges stem from a six month long undercover investigation.
The investigation focused on investigating a group of individuals controlling a large quantity of the illicit cocaine and methamphetamine trade in the Town of Hearst. Undercover officers were successful infiltrating the group and making numerous purchases. The investigation concluded with the execution of nine search warrants.
Fourteen individuals have been charged with 118 drug and firearm related offences. Cocaine, methamphetamine, and marihuana was purchased and seized along with $20,000 cash an AK47 rifle, five motor vehicles and two snowmobiles.
The street value of the drugs seized is $ 623,000.
