Theft pf electric bike
(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP is currently investigating the theft of an electric bike.
Sometime between 9:00 p.m. on August 21, 2012 and 9:00 a.m. August 23, 2012 unknown person took a black and orange electric bike from a driveway on Hillside Drive South. The bike is described as having a small clear windshield.
More than 140 firearms seized from Elliot Lake residence
(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On Wednesday, August 22, 2012 members of the OPP North East Region Crime Unit, Explosive Deposal Unit, Sault Ste Marie Identification Unit, Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit, Organized Crime Unit and members of the East Algoma OPP executed a criminal code search warrant. The warrant was for a residence located in the Westhill Trailer Park of Elliot Lake for unsafe storage of firearms.
As a result of that search police located and seized an excess of 140 firearms of various calibers, a very large quantity of ammunition and gun powders that were found to be stored in an unsafe manner.
Charged with the following is Kenneth ASHWORTH (65) of Elliot Lake.
- Unlawful possession of explosives
- Careless storage of ammunition
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Breach of Firearms Regulations
The accused is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on November 6, 2012.
