SECOND DROWINING VICTIM LOCATED (HORNEPAYNE) On August 7, 2009 at approximately 12:15 OPP divers located the second drowning victim on KABINAKAGAMI LAKE in the rapids of BIG KABI RIVER.
SECOND DROWINING VICTIM LOCATED

(HORNEPAYNE) On August 7, 2009 at approximately 12:15 OPP divers located the second drowning victim on KABINAKAGAMI LAKE in the rapids of BIG KABI RIVER. The body of Robert SEXTON, age 76 of Columbus, Ohio was recovered.

On August 4, 2009 two men had been reported to have become caught in the rapids and were swept downstream. The boat and lifejackets were recovered shortly after but the two men were not immediately located.

At approximately 1 pm on August 5, 2009 the body of one of the victims, Gary JEWETT, age 64 of Mount Sterling, Ohio was located.

Although life jackets were available, they were not being worn at the time of the mishap.

SEVERAL CHARGES FOR LOCAL YOUTH

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) August 6, 2009 at approximately 7:32 p.m. police received a call to attend 115 Hergott Avenue in Elliot Lake regarding a possible break and enter.

On scene police learned that windows had been broken, entry to the school had been gained and the fire alarm had been pulled.

Police located the suspect.

Charged with the following is a 14-year-old male youth of Elliot Lake.

The youth remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing in Sault Ste Marie on August 7, 2009.

The name of the youth will not be released under the authority of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

SHOPLIFTING IS A CRIME

(Elliot Lake, ON.) – On August 6, 2009 at approximately 10:27 a.m. the East Algoma OPP received a call to attend a local retail store on Hillside Drive South in Elliot Lake regarding a theft.

Charged with Theft Under is Ed JORGENSEN (82) of Elliot Lake. He is to appear in Elliot Lake court on October 6, 2009.

TIRE SWING STOLEN FROM BACK YARD!

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) The East Algoma OPP is investigating the theft of a tire swing on London Crescent in Elliot Lake.

The victim reports leaving the residence for a walk when she noticed the tire swing, which was part of a full play, set in the back yard was missing. The swing was removed with care and it would appear that someone might intend to set it up somewhere else. The swing is of a value of approximately $150.00.
