Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating an break and enter into a home in the 400 block of Government Road in Echo Bay.

The owner of the house left his home at about 10:00 a.m. yesterday morning. When he returned to the house at 12:00 noon he found the door to the house smashed open. A search of the home revealed a shotgun and computer accessories had been stolen.

Police would like to remind everyone that if you see anything in your neighbourhood that arouses your suspicions, don’t hesitate to call the police. Chances are that if you feel that a person or vehicle may just be out of the ordinary, they probably are. Try to get as many details on the vehicle or the person as possible and call right away.

TWO GOULIGANS COLLIDE OVER A WOLF

Goulais River, Ont.,

Last night OPP in Sault Ste Marie were called to Hwy 17 in Goulais River just past the bottom of the Mile Hill for a two vehicle crash.

At about 7:00 p.m. last night a car was following a pick up truck northbound on Hwy 17 just beyond the bottom of the Mile Hill.

It is alleged that the pick up truck stopped on the highway for a wolf. The following car was unable to stop and struck the back of the truck. No one was injured in the crash.

The driver of the car, seventy two (72) year old Mary ALLEN, of Goulais River has been charged with Following Too Close contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The pick up truck was operated by another resident of Goulais River. The driver of the truck was able to drive his vehicle away but the car had to be towed.

SAULT OPP R.I.D.E. REPORT

Sault Ste Marie, Ont.,

Yesterday Sault Ste Marie OPP conducted ten different R.I.D.E checks at various locations all through out our detachment area.

At the ten different spot checks, officers checked a total of 490 vehicles. They conducted four roadside tests and issued two 12-hour drivers licence suspensions. Officers also issued one seat belt ticket and charged two other people with other Highway Traffic Act offences.

One man was given a roadside breath test and failed the test. He was returned to the police station where the Intoxilyzer readings indicated that he was just under the limit to be charged. He was one of the two people who were issued a 12 hour drivers licence suspension.
