FATAL ACCIDENT NEAR SEARCHMONT
A Searchmont resident lost her life in a fatal traffic accident at 4:00pm yesterday. Sarah Bougie, age 19, of 15 Hult Road, Searchmont, died as a result of injuries received in the accident on highway #556, south of the Ranger Lake junction. Ms. Bougie was the driver and lone occupant of one of the vehicles.

The other driver, Robert Riggs of Sault Ste. Marie received minor injuries, was treated and released from Sault Area Hospitals. At the time of the accident the road was snow-covered. Alcohol was not a factor.

Police have been able to determine that the Bougie vehicle was headed east toward Searchmont. Janet Bougie lost control of her vehicle on a curve and slid into the path of the west bound pick-up truck driven by Riggs.

Sault Ste. Marie OPP is investigating.
