STOLEN GAS LEADS TO PURSUIT (Heyden , Ont.) A theft of gas from a Heyden gas station resulted in a police pursuit and a recovered stolen vehicle. At about 8:00 p.m. last night a lone male filled up the car he was driving at a gas station in Heyden.
STOLEN GAS LEADS TO PURSUIT

(Heyden , Ont.) A theft of gas from a Heyden gas station resulted in a police pursuit and a recovered stolen vehicle.

At about 8:00 p.m. last night a lone male filled up the car he was driving at a gas station in Heyden. The man drove off and did not pay for the gas. The gas attendant called the police and an officer with the Sault Ste Marie Detachment located the vehicle traveling south on Great Northern Road at Fourth Line.

The officer attempted to pull the car over but the driver refused to stop for the police. The driver continued through the city traveling at 15 to 20 kms over the speed limit. The car traveled across Black Road and east on Trunk Road to Hwy 17 east of Sault Ste Marie.

The car turned off of Hwy 17 and onto Jardin Mine Road where the pursuit was terminated by police. The vehicle was located about one hour later facing the wrong way on Hwy 17 near Noonday Road. A search of the area was conducted but no one was located.

The car had been reported stolen from Chilliwack British Columbia.

NO INJURIES AFTER MINI VAN HITS POLE

(Batchewana First Nation, Ont.) No one was injured after a mini van struck a pole on the Batchewana First Nation last night.

Last night at about 8:15 p.m. a mini van was traveling on Frontenac Street on the Batchewana First Nation. For reasons unknown, the mini van lost control and went off the roadway then stuck a hydro pole. No wires came loose from the pole but the pole appeared to crack near the top.

No one was injured in the crash but the vehicle had to be towed from the scene. The investigation is still ongoing.
