OPEN BOOZE IN VEHICLES CAN BE A COSTLY ISSUE

Goulais River, Ont.,

The OPP Traffic and Marine Unit, stationed in Sault Ste Marie, had a very successful night finding those who persist in having open liquor in their vehicles.

The first offender was caught at about 6:00 p.m. last night as he was traveling on Hwy 17 in Goulais River. Twenty nine year old Jason Shuttleworth of Sault Ste Marie was found with open beer in his vehicle. A roadside breath test was also conducted on Mr. Shuttleworth that resulted in a 12-hour drivers licence suspension.

R.I.D.E CHECKS PRODUCES EVEN MORE BOOZE IN VEHICLES

Searchmont, Ont.,

Later in the evening officers with the Traffic and Marine Unit then traveled to Hwy 556 in the Searchmont area where they conducted a R.I.D.E. check for two hours.

In those two hours they stopped 58 vehicles and charged three area men with having open liquor in the vehicles. The three men who lost their beer but gained an expensive ticket are, twenty- year- old Wesley Tabaczyk, twenty two year old James Blain of Sault Michigan and twenty- year- old Luke Fera of Sault Ontario.

Wesley Tabaczyk was also found to be consuming alcohol with operating a vehicle with a class G2 driver’s licence. He received an extra ticket for that offence.

With most of these tickets costing over the $200.00 range, committing these offences in Ontario proved to be a costly night for these four drinkers.
