FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION (WHITE RIVER) – On July 9, 2009 at approximately 11:30 pm a 1979 Ford Fairmont was travelling southbound on Highway 17, Vasiloff Township approximately 20 kilometres south of White River.
FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(WHITE RIVER) – On July 9, 2009 at approximately 11:30 pm a 1979 Ford Fairmont was travelling southbound on Highway 17, Vasiloff Township approximately 20 kilometres south of White River. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the vehicle lost control, skidded sideways into the northbound lane striking a northbound 2006 Western Star tractor trailer unit.

As a result of the collision the two occupants of the southbound car were fatally injured and the driver of the tractor trailer received minor injuries.

This accident is presently under investigation by Superior East officers along with the OPP Technical Traffic Unit.

Names of the deceased are not being released pending notification of next of kin.

Further information will be released as the investigation progresses.

Motorists are being advised that the highway in this area is presently open to one lane and are requested to drive with caution and expect short delays while the investigation is conducted.

VEHICLES AT ESTEN BOAT LAUNCH DAMAGED

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) July 8, 2009 at approximately 3:34 p.m. police received a call to attend the Esten Lake Boat Launch in Elliot Lake regarding possible mischief to several vehicles.

On scene police learned that three vehicles had been parked and unattended and upon their return the victims noted their vehicles had been damaged. It is suspected that unknown person(s) between 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. threw rocks at the vehicles causing damage to two (s) windshields and one (1) driver side window. Total of damage approximately $900.00.

MOTOR HOME DAMAGED

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) The East Algoma is currently investigating a mischief to a motor home parked at the end of Beckett Boulevard in Elliot Lake.

Police learned that sometime between July 7, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. when the motor home was last checked and July 9, 2009 damage was caused to the driver’s side window. Four pellet holes were located in the siding of the window no other damage could be noted.

The Ontario Provincial Police advise the public of the following road closure.
