Friday, July 6, 2007 Highway 144 at Elboga Lake, Muldrew Township (40 kilometers North of Cartier, Ontario) is expected to be closed in both directions for a period of 5 hours.

As a result of a motor vehicle collision, which occurred July 4, 2007, a 20 Ton crane must be removed from the East embankment of Highway 144 at Elboga Lake. This will require heavy equipment, including a larger 250 Ton crane. This piece of equipment will block the entire highway while crews removed the vehicle from the ditch.

It is believed that Highway 144 will be down to one lane of travel from 9:30 am to approximately 11:30 am or noon. From noon to 5:00 pm it is expected that the entire Highway will be closed at that location.

The Ministry of Transportation has approved the removal of the crane.


AND AGAIN---ANOTHER IMPAIRED DRIVER TAKEN OFF THE ROAD

At 3:20 p.m. Thursday afternoon a officer of the Sault Ste Marie OPP stopped a vehicle on Hwy#638 in MacDonald Township. The operator had been drinking and failed a roadside breath test. Charged with driving with a blood alcohol level in excess of 80 mg% is Ronald L Taylor age 54 of Aberdeen Township.

Poor Driving Results in Traffic Stop and Narcotics Charge

A member of the Sault Ste Marie Traffic and Marine unit pulled over a vehicle on Hwy#17 north of the City of Sault Ste Marie due to poor driving. The driver was found to be in possession of a small quantity of Marihuana. Charged with possession of a Narcotic contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act is Patrick Buczel age 23 of Bristol Pl Sault Ste Marie. Mr Buczel will appear in court in Sault Ste Marie on the 13thof August.

BREAK AND ENTER TO COTTAGE

(Township of Huron Shores, Ontario) On July 4, 2007 the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP was contacted regarding a break and enter to a cottage located on Coles Bay Road in the Township of Huron Shores, Ontario (east of Thessalon, Ontario).

Suspects entered the cottage and went through drawers and closets. Suspects did not take anything in the break and enter.

FIREARMS CHARGE LAID

(Mississauga First Nation, west of Blind River, Ontario) On Thursday July 5, 2007 at approximately 11:00 pm the East Algoma Blind River OPP were contacted regarding a firearm being discharged on Mississauga First Nation.

Officers responded to a location on Canoe Lake Road on Mississauga First Nation and arrested one male.

Stanley KING (62) of Mississauga First Nation has been charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

KING is scheduled to appear in Blind River court on September 27, 2007.

DAMAGE SUSTAINED TO TWO MOTOR VEHICLES

(Mississauga First Nation, west of Blind River, Ontario) On Thursday July 5, 2007 at approximately 8:00 am the East Algoma Blind River Detachment were contacted regarding eight tires being flattened on two motor vehicles on Mississauga First Nation.

It is believed suspects flattened the tires between 4:00 am – 8:00 am on July 5, 2007.

THEFT FROM BOAT

(Basswood Lake, North of Thessalon, Ontario) On Thursday July 5, 2007 the East Algoma Thessalon OPP were advised of a theft of a prop from a boat motor.

The boat was parked in a field at the time of the theft.

THEFTS FROM MOTOR VEHICLES

(East Algoma OPP) Two thefts from motor vehicles have been reported to the East Algoma OPP.

On July 4, 2007 it is reported that several electronic devices including an MP3 player, a DVD portable player and DVD’s, Sony mini disc player, 4 headphones, and a Nintendo DS game unit and games were stolen along with a grey duffle bag from a motor vehicle parked at an Ottawa Avenue residence in Elliot Lake, Ontario.

On July 5, 2007 it is reported that a screwdriver set was stolen from a motor vehicle parked at an Eli Road residence on Mississauga First Nation.
