AND AGAIN---ANOTHER IMPAIRED DRIVER TAKEN OFF THE ROAD

Patrol officers with the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment took another impaired driver off the road this morning.

This morning at about 3:30 a.m. an officer on patrol saw a pick up truck stopped on the side of Hwy 17 in Garden River. A portion of the truck was blocking the traveled portion of the highway. As the officer approached the truck, the female driver opened the drivers door and got out. An opened can of beer was seen on the floor at the driver’s feet.

A roadside test on the driver indicated the presence of alcohol in her system. She was taken back to the detachment where further testing indicating that the driver was over the legal limit to be driving.

Twenty six (26) year old Jamie Lynn Lacrosse, of 126 Central Park Avenue in Sault Ste Marie, has been charged with Driving While Over the Legal Limit of .08 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. Ms. Lacrosse was also give a ticket for driving with no licence.

Ms. Lacrosse was released from custody and is scheduled to appear on court on July 30, 2007.

BREAK AND ENTER

(Thessalon Township, Ontario) On Thursday June 28, 2007 the East Algoma Thessalon OPP received a complaint of a break and enter to a residence located
on Highway 17 in Thessalon Township.

Liquor and cash were stolen in the break and enter.

TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN NUMEROUS CHARGES

(Thessalon Township, Ontario) On Thursday June 28, 2007 shortly after 12:00 pm, a traffic stop was conducted approximately 3 km west of Thessalon, Ontario on Highway 17, resulting in numerous charges being laid.

Two males from Nova Scotia have been charged with the following offences:

John Leroy JONES (37) faces the following charges under the Criminal Code of Canada.

• Possess firearm with altered serial number, Section 108(1)(b)
• Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was a Firearm, Section 94
• Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Section 91(1)
• Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Section 92(1)
• Fail to Comply with Undertaking, Section 145(5.1) (X2)

Randall Stewart SLATTER (47) faces the following charge under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

• Possession Schedule II Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams, Section 4(1)

JONES is scheduled to appear in bail court in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario today. SLATTER was released on a Recognizance to attend in Thessalon Court on September 27, 2007.
