U.S COAST GUARD EXPANDS ICE BREAKING OPERATIONS

The United States Coast Guard has contacted the OPP to assist everyone with additional warnings about ice breaking operations

Starting today ice fishermen and snow machine enthusiasts should watch out for ice breaking operations from Drummond Island right up the St Mary’s River through to Lake Superior. The U. S. Coast Guard also advise that ice breaking operations will also include the shipping channels across the bottom of St. Joseph’s Island and eastward.

Ice breaking operations can be conducted 24 hours a day so be aware that the ice conditions in all the shipping channels throughout this entire area may change at anytime of the day or night.


SINGLE VEHICLE COLLISION IN GOULAIS
Goulais River, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP investigated a single vehicle collision on Hwy 552 West in Goulais River yesterday.

At about 8:30 a.m. a mini van was travelling on Goulais Mission Road when the driver lost control in the slush. The van left the roadway and rolled onto its roof. No one was injured in this collision but the van was extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

No charges were laid.
