IT WAS CLOSE, BUT HWY 17 REMAINS OPEN
Heyden, Ont.

At 10:30 p.m. yesterday, officers from the Sault detachment of the O.P.P. were called to the mile hill just north of the Sault. Three trucks were stuck on the up bound lanes and were blocking most of the highway. Officers closed that section of highway 17 for about an hour and a half until enough sand and salt were applied to the hill to enable the trucks to reach the top.

This morning at 8am, highways 17 north and 17 east are both open.
