IMPAIRED DRIVER FLEES COLLISION SCENE
Goulais River, Ont.,

An impaired driver fled the scene of a collision after he rolled the vehicle over in a ditch.

Yesterday at about 5:30 p.m. police, fire and ambulance were called to a single vehicle accident on Hwy 552 West in Goulais River. Witnesses first indicated that the passenger was unable to get out of the vehicle. It was later determined that his inability to get out may have been due to alcohol consumption as opposed to an injury.

Both the driver and the passenger in the vehicle fled the scene. Thanks to the keen eyes of the citizens of Goulais River, police were able to track the driver down and arrest him.

Thirty-four-year-old John Burris of Goulais River was arrested and charged with Having Care and Control of a Motor while over the Legal Limit and Refusing a Breathalyzer test. Mr. Burris was also issued a 90 day drivers licence suspension.

No injuries were reported in this collision.
