Serious Injuries in Snowmobile Collision (Elliot Lake, ON.) – Shortly after 5:00 a.m. East Algoma O.P.P. were called by Ambulance officials to investigate a snowmobile collision on Elliot Lake.

(Elliot Lake, ON.) – Shortly after 5:00 a.m. East Algoma O.P.P. were called by Ambulance officials to investigate a snowmobile collision on Elliot Lake.
Investigation thus far indicates that a couple of snowmobilers were travelling together in the early morning hours. Just before 5:00 a.m. two snowmobilers were on Elliot Lake near Westview Park when one stuck a rock sticking out of the snow.
The female passenger from this snowmobile is believed to have suffered a fractured spine.
Police state that alcohol was a factor in this incident.
Both parties involved are Elliot Lake residents.

Elliot Lake Fire Dept assisted ambulance in gaining access to the scene and getting the injured parties prepared for transport.

The driver has been arrested and is facing multiple charges, one of which is Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle causing Bodily Harm.

The technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is assisting in the investigation.

Police are asking the Public to STAY AWAY from the area until the investigation is complete.

STOLEN ICE AUGER

(Aweres Twp., ON) – Unknown suspect(s) entered a shed on Old Mill Road in Aweres Township yesterday and stole a gas powered ice auger.

DRIVER CHARGED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

(Fenwick Twp., ON) – An OPP officer on patrol on Pineshores Road in Goulais River yesterday evening at 11:50 pm conducted a routine traffic stop with a vehicle that was following the officer with its’ bright lights on.

Evidence was obtained that the driver had been drinking and there was open liquor in the vehicle.

The male, 23 year old Jake MCLELLAND of 776C Pinshores Road in Fenwick Township was charged with Operate Motor Vehicle with over 80 mgs and Fail to Comply with Undertaking. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for Court on March 30, 2009
