FATALITY AT WESDOME GOLD MINE - Deceased Identified (SUPERIOR EAST, ON) On April 30, 2013 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wawa Detachment were advised that a mining accident had occurred at Wesdome Gold Mine in Legarde Township.

(SUPERIOR EAST, ON) On April 30, 2013 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wawa Detachment were advised that a mining accident had occurred at Wesdome Gold Mine in Legarde Township.  OPP assisted the Ministry of Labour (MOL) with their investigation and has now concluded their involvement in the matter.  The deceased male has been identified as 35-year-old Dominic BERNARD of Blind River.

The Wesdome Gold Mine Eagle River Mine site is located approximately 70 kilometers west of Highway 17 on Paint Lake Road 35 kilometers south of White River, Ontario.

HUMAN SKULL FOUND NEAR JAMES BAY SHORE

(MOOSONEE, ON)- Members of the Moosonee Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have responded to a report of a human skull found near the shore of James Bay at a location known as East Point. East Point is located approximately 75 miles north east of the Town of Moosonee at the north end of Hannah Bay.

An investigation involving the OPP North East Region Crime Unit, members of the Moosonee OPP Detachment and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) has commenced.

The investigation remains on-going at this point and officers will be working with the Regional Supervising Coroner from Sudbury as well as a Forensic Pathologist from Toronto.
