DRUG ENFORCEMENT UNIT CHARGE 5 PEOPLE WITH 35 OFFENCES

(East Algoma, ON.) The Ontario Provincial Police Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – North, Drug Enforcement Unit and the Anishinabek Police Service have charged 5 individuals with drug related offences following early morning arrests conducted in the communities of Serpent River First Nation and Spanish on Thursday May 26th, 2011.

The charges stem from a three month long undercover investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Anishinabek Police Service.

The investigation, code named Project NOX, focused on infiltrating street level prescription pill traffickers operating in the communities of Serpent River First Nation and Spanish. An undercover officer was successful in infiltrating local traffickers and making numerous purchases.

Five individuals have been charged with 35 drug related offences. Two subsequent Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrants were executed at residences in Serpent River First Nation and Spanish. Oxycodone and marihuana were seized during the investigation. The street value of the drugs seized is $8,310.

Rachel JACOBS, age 25, of Serpent River First Nation
Trafficking in a Controlled Substance – 7 Counts
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – 6 Counts

Dan FRAYNE, age 46, of Spanish
Trafficking in a Controlled Substance – 2 Counts
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – 1 Count
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – 2 Counts
Failure to Comply with Undertaking Conditions – 1 Count

Brian SIMS, age 30, of Spanish
Trafficking in a Controlled Substance – 2 Counts
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – 2 Counts

Kenneth FOLZ, age 55, of Serpent River First Nation
Trafficking in a Controlled Substance - 1 Count
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – 1 Count
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – 2 Counts

OPP CIVILIAN MEMBER CHARGED WITH THEFT

(ORILLIA, ON) – A civilian member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) assigned to the Sault Ste. Marie Detachment has been charged with theft.

As a result of an investigation by the OPP Professional Standards Bureau it was found that a detachment administrative assistant had committed theft in relation to monies that the detachment took in for administrative services during 2010 and 2011.

Rachel BLAKE, age 39, a 10 year civilian member of the OPP has been charged with six count of theft under $5,000. She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on June 27, 2011.
