SAULT OPP HAVE TWO, FOUR LETTER WORDS THAT DRIVERS DO NOT LIKE TO HEAR

Sault Ste Marie, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP attended eight collisions yesterday in areas from Laird Twp to Batchawana.

Yesterday morning, just after 8:00 a.m. OPP were called to a single vehicle collision on Goulais Mission Road. A van traveling on the roadway lost control in the slush, left the roadway and rolled over. Both occupants were seat belted in and were not injured.

About the same time Sault OPP received a report of a van upside down in the bush line on Hwy 17 just south of the Batchawana MTO patrol yard.

The driver of that van lost control left the roadway, traveled through the ditch. The vehicle rolled over and became hung up on the rocks and trees in the bush line. The driver of this vehicle was transported to Sault Area Hospital by ambulance where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The remainder of the crashes resulted in no injuries, little property damage but everyone had to have a tow truck to get them out of the ditch and just what are those two, four letter words that most drivers do not like to hear ????

S-L-O-W D-O-W-N

We don’t think it is a difficult concept to understand but, for some reason it appears that some drivers are unable to comprehend this concept. If you see the road is slush and snow covered just raise your right foot off the right pedal slightly and your vehicle should slow down to a speed that is appropriate for slush and snow covered roadways.

There---it is as simple as that!!! You may have just saved yourself, or your loved ones a ride in an ambulance, a tow bill, increased insurance premiums, the cost of getting your vehicle fixed and above all, perhaps the life long pain and anguish of your family attending your funeral.

Try it, just once. When you see the roadway is snow, ice and slush covered and you still have to drive on that day…raise your right foot off that gas pedal slightly, and see what the amazing difference slowing down makes to your life, the lives of everyone in your vehicle along with the health and well being of the people in the other vehicle you may slide into.
