MINOR INJURES IN LAIRD TOWNSHIP CRASH

(Laird Twp, Ont.) One person suffered minor injuries in a two vehicle crash on Hwy 17 in Laird Township yesterday.

Yesterday at about 2:15 p.m. a truck was traveling eastbound on Hwy 17 at the intersection of Neebish Road. A second vehicle was attempting to cross Hwy 17 at Neebish Road. The vehicle on Neebish Road crossed into the path of the truck on Hwy 17 and drove into the side of the truck. The driver of the car received minor injuries.

As a result of this crash seventy (70) year old Christina DUUBEL of Laird Township has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Fail to Yield.

BURNING DOWN THE HIGHWAY

(Laird Twp, Ont.) An officer with the Sault Ste Marie Detachment may have just saved an entire transport from burning up this morning.

This morning at about 3:00 a.m. the officer was patrolling Hwy 17 in Laird Township. He noticed a transport traveling in the opposite direction. One of the rear wheels on the truck was on fire and the driver did not know. The officer got the truck pulled over and the fire was extinguished. The truck was left at the scene until a maintenance vehicle could repair the rig.
