STOP FOR THE SCHOOL BUSES RED LIGHTS OR PAY THE PRICE!!

Sault Ste Marie OPP and the Northeast Region R.I.D.E. Unit will join in on a one week province wide enforcement blitz against those people that do not stop for the school buses flashing red lights.

Starting on Monday 15 Oct 2001 and continuing until Friday 19 Oct 2001, Sault Ste Marie OPP will take a variety of steps to catch motorist whom run the red light of school buses.

Officers will patrol behind the buses throughout the area in an effort to catch the few motorist who defy logic and continue to pass school buses that are picking up and dropping off our children.

OPP officers will consult with the bus drivers, school officials, and bus companies to determine which school bus routes have the most violations and the police will concentrate on those routes.

Sault Ste Marie OPP members will also select a different bus and have one officer ride the school bus and a second officer behind the bus in an unmarked
