Much to our delight crime took a break yesterday. In those areas patrolled by Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. serenity reigned supreme. That is not to say that we spent the day lolling about. We were of assistance in several areas and we did respond to numerous calls for service. It is just that none of those calls required arrests, incarceration or follow-up investigations.

Last 24 Hours

We were dispatched to a break and enter at a trailer park, north of the city. On arrival it became apparent that there had been no break and enter. The inebriated resident had left his abode to continue his birthday celebration with a neighbour. On his return he discovered his front door standing open. His first thought was that someone had been in his home. After discussion with officers he realized that perhaps he had neglected to close the aforementioned front door on his departure. Birthday celebrations sometimes have a way of clouding the memory.

We also responded to a residential alarm in the Echo Bay area. The alarm in question was a motion detector located in the bathroom. On arrival officers discovered that the building was secured and no unauthorized entry had occurred. It is not clear what bathroom gremlins may have activated the alarm in the absence of the owner.

A flat tire can be a nuisance when one is traveling. They tend to expel all of their air at the most inconvenient times. We never seem to be wearing our tire changing clothes whenever these events occur. One of our officers assisted a motorist with a flat tire yesterday, just north of the Sault. We always wear our tire changing duds and are always pleased to be of assistance.

We filled the rest of our day with routine patrols, assistance services to other policing agencies and handling information inquiries. A rather pleasant, non-taxing day, from our point of view. The weekend approacheth!! We are prepared!!!
