YOUTH ASSAULTED IN ECHO BAY (Echo Bay, Ont.) Sault Ste Marie OPP have charged an adult care giver after a twelve year old was assaulted by the person.
YOUTH ASSAULTED IN ECHO BAY

(Echo Bay, Ont.) Sault Ste Marie OPP have charged an adult care giver after a twelve year old was assaulted by the person.

An investigation indicated that a twelve year old child was temporarily staying with a relative in Echo Bay. It was brought to the attention of a second adult that the twelve year old may have had bruising from the care giver. As a result of this investigation a sixty (60) year old Echo Bay woman has been charged with one count of Assault.

The woman will appear in court on November 26 2007. The child did not need medical attention and is staying with other relatives.

MAJOR MARIHUANA “GROW-OP” UNCOVERED - CHARGES LAID

On the 24th October 2007 the OPP Joint Forces Drug Unit which consists of members from the OPP Drug Enforcement Section Sault Ste Marie, OPP North East Region, Sault Ste Marie Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police with assistance from the Elliot Lake and Blind River O.P.P. detachments and Hydro One Theft of Power Investigation Project Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Search Warrant at a residence in Spanish/ Shedden Township.

As a result of the Search Police located a very large and sophisticated Marihuana Growing Operation.

SEIZED Was: - 630 Marihuana Plants (Street value $630,000.00)
- Dried Marihuana (Shake) 2270 grams (value $568.00)
- Growing equipment (valued at $15,000.00)

Charged with the following is: Michael THAM age 21 yrs of Toronto, Ontario and Raphael LO age 21 also of Toronto, Ontario.

Count #1 - Production of a Controlled Substance (Marihuana) 7(1) CDSA.
Count #2 - Possession of a Controlled Substance for the purpose of Trafficking 5(2) CDSA.
Count #3 - Possession of a Controlled Substance 4(1) CDSA.
Count #4 - Theft Over $5000.00 (Hydro) Sec. 334(a) CCC.
Count #5 - Unauthorized Poss. of a Weapon 91(2) CCC.

BOTH ACCUSED are held in Police Custody Pending a Bail Hearing.
