Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges

(Blind River, Ontario) – At 5:30 p.m. on October 7, 2010, as a result of information received from another municipal police force, officers of the East Algoma OPP conducted a traffic stop on Canoe Road on the Mississauga First Nation. Through investigation, police located 43 pounds of Marihuana, a street value of $390,000.00.

Charged with the following is Wei Cong CAO (35) of Scarborough, Ontario

Production of Cannabis Marihuana
Possession for the Purpose
Obstruct/Resist Police
Possession of Property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Also charged is Chu Chun LIN (29) of Markham, Ontario. LIN is charged with the following:

Production of Cannabis Marihuana
Possession for the Purpose

Police also charged Jian Chang YAN (33) of Markham with the following:

Production of Cannabis Marihuana
Possession for the Purpose
Possession of Property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Xiangyu ZHANG (28) of Scarborough, Ontario was also charged with the following:

Production of Cannabis Marihuana
Possession for the Purpose
Possession of Property obtained by crime under $5,000.

All parties remain in custody in Sault Ste Marie awaiting a bail hearing.
