Ranger Lake Rd Hwy # 556 Closed
Hwy#556 at the Garden River Bridge will be closed until at least noon on the 19th of September to complete repairs. The highway has been closed since the 17th of September.
TRAFFIC STOP NETS DRIVER SEVERAL CHARGES
(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On the 18th of September 2008 officers of the East Algoma OPP while on general patrol north of Elliot Lake on highway 108 observed an ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) traveling northbound. Police conducted traffic stop at 3:13 p.m. and after speaking with the driver and with further investigation the driver, George Arthur TOWNSEND (56) of Elliot Lake was charged with the following:
Drive Disqualified (X2)
Breach of Probation Order
TOWNSEND is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on November 4, 2008.
TOWNSEND was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following offences:
Off Road Vehicle – speeding
Off Road Vehicle – no permit
Drive Off Road Vehicle on Schedule B Highway
