ASSAULT NETS CHARGES FOR 4 MALE YOUTHS

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP have arrested and charged 4 youths after completing their investigation regarding a possible assault.

September 26, 2007 police were contacted and advised an assault had taken place at a local elementary school in Elliot Lake. The alleged assault occurred at the end of the school day on school property. Police investigated and on September 27, 2007 officers attended the school and arrested the suspects.

Charged with following are:
12-year-old male Assault Cause Bodily Harm
Fail to Comply
13-year-old male Assault Cause Bodily Harm
13-year-old male Assault Cause Bodily Harm
12-year-old male Assault Cause Bodily Harm

The name of the accused will not be released under the jurisdiction of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

All above charged youth are scheduled to appear in court on November 6, 2007.

EXTRA PATROLS AROUND SCHOOL AREA

(Goulais River, Ont.) Yesterday at about 8:30 a.m. three elementary students were waiting for the school bus to pick them up at the end of their driveways on Hwy 17 in Goulais River. School officials and OPP received a report that an elderly man in a light coloured full size van stopped and allegedly took photos of the children.

A search of Hwy 17 from Sault Ste Marie to Wawa failed to locate the van. This morning OPP officers from the Sault Ste Marie detachment are making extra patrols of the highways and side road surrounding both elementary schools north of Sault Ste Marie.
