Man accused of taking trampoline, trike from daycare

A 29-year-old from Batchewana First Nation has been charged with break-and-enter after an investigation at a local daycare centre.

On July 4 Batchewana First Nation Police Service responded to a complaint at a local daycare on Frontenac Street in Batchewana First Nation that occurred sometime between June 30 and the morning of July 4, a news release said.

Police reviewed video footage and a person could be seen at the property removing screens in an attempted to force windows open. The suspect then stole a small trampoline, a youth's bicycle, and tricycle, the release said.

On July 11 police made an arrest on Gran Street; Christopher Hill was charged with:

  • Break, enter a place-commit indictable offence
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Mischief under $5,000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie Aug. 28.
