A 47-year-old Spanish man is behind bars after allegedly threatening to blow up the hospital in Elliot Lake and kill staff members.
Early Sunday morning, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the OPP say officers were called to the hospital after a man known to authorities had pulled the fire alarm, threatened to kill staff, and blow up the building and police.
Police say the man was previously charged in 2022 and prohibited from entering hospital property because of similar behaviour in the past.
Todd Pineo was arrested and charged with:
- Uttering threats - damage property
- False alarm of fire
- Failure to comply with probation order (three counts)
He is scheduled to appear in bail court in Sault Ste. Marie today.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Pineo is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
