DRIVER CHARGED AFTER FAILING TO STOP FOR POLICE (Blind River, ON) –On Saturday April 14, 2012 at 1:30 am the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Algoma stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act infraction on Causley St., Blind River, ON.

DRIVER CHARGED AFTER FAILING TO STOP FOR POLICE

(Blind River, ON) –On Saturday April 14, 2012 at 1:30 am the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Algoma stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act infraction on Causley St., Blind River, ON.  Once stopped the officer spoke to the female driver of the vehicle and while the officer was in the police cruiser the female driver unlawfully left the scene.  The OPP officer initiated a pursuit with speeds reaching 80 – 83 kilometres per hour. The vehicle was observed crossing the centre line and narrowly missing the oncoming traffic.  The pursuit ended in the Town of Iron Bridge, OPP officers deployed a spike belt resulting in the vehicle stopping safely. 

The driver Anna TATE (41) of Sudbury was arrested and charged with
1. Flight from Police
2. Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
3. Fail to Comply

The accused was held in custody and will appear in bail court on April 16, 2012.
 

THEFT OF SOLAR PANELS

(Laird Twp., ON) -  Sometime between Thursday April 5th, 2012 and Friday April 12th 2012, approximately six thousand dollars worth of solar panels were stolen from a residence in the 1500 block of Government Road in Laird Township.

The installed panels were removed from the south side of a newly constructed home.

They are described as:

4 panels – 6ft x 3 ½ ft, Solarworld SW245 Mono brand, silver in colour

8 panels – 18 ft x 3 ft, Canadian Tire brand

OPP are looking for a suspect vehicle seen in the area.  The vehicle is described as a black pick up truck with a black cap.  The truck had a ladder strapped to the roof at the time with a male driver and female passenger.


VANDALISM TO TRACTORS

(Laird Twp., ON) -   Damage was reported to OPP involving eight tractors belonging to Northshore Tractor on Calabogie Road in Laird Township.

The vandalism took place between Thursday, April 12th, 2012 after 5 pm and prior to 8 am on Friday, April 13th, 2012.

All machines were located at the front of the store and wires were cut to all eight tractors.  


DAMAGE TO GRADER

(Hodgins Twp., ON) – Vandalism was reported to OPP involving a grader parked on Dumas Road off of the Ranger Lake Road.

The damage took place sometime between Thursday April 12th, and early this morning.

Both door windows had been smashed along with the front, back and side windows. 

Damage to the vehicle is estimated to be over two thousand dollars.
