Dagg-Edmunds was the passenger of a blue 2005 KIA Spectra driven by 40 year old Liette Larabie of Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. The vehicle was travelling westbound on Highway 17 early shortly before 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning when it left the roadway and rolled onto its roof in the north ditch.

Moving Out- Break-In

(Spanish, Ontario) Sometime between the 01 April 2007 and 10 April 2007 culprits entered a residence on Brennan Harbour Road and stole a multitude of equipment to set up a house.

The culprits had cut the lock to the gate leading to the house and stole a refrigerator, kitchen utensils, table and chairs, propane heaters and an uninstalled door and frame. The property was valued in excess of $10,000.

The amount and bulk of the equipment taken would indicate that there were at least two suspects. Forensic evidence was gathered at the scene. It appears as though one of the suspects suffered a substantial injury while stealing the property and was cut in the process.

Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding this break in to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

GUN CALL TURNS OUT TO BE FALSE

Goulais River, Ont., On Sunday morning a hitchhiker on Hwy 17 in Goulais River learned exactly what a real pistol looks like.

At about 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning Sault Ste Marie OPP received a call of a hitchhiker near the intersection of Hwy 17 and Pineshores Drive in Goulais River. Callers indicated that the male hitchhiker had a handgun and was pointing the gun into the ditch at the side of the roadway. A second caller indicated that they could hear the man dry firing the gun.

Several officers with the Sault Ste Marie OPP Detachment responded to the call. As the hitchhiker saw the police cars and officers with guns drawn he immediately put his hands in the air and cooperated with police.

It turns out that the alleged handgun was an air gun made in a replica of a real pistol. When questioned about his actions with the air gun the man said that he was just shooting at cans in the ditch while waiting for a ride.

After some discussion with officers he now realizes that there is a time and a place for such an activity and perhaps standing on the side of the highway, in front of a busy shopping plaza, was not one of his smarter moves.

Since there were no offences committed, the officers return the air pistol to the man and drove him to a more isolated section of Hwy 17 to continue his journey.
DAMAGE TO GOULAIS RIVER HOMES

Goulais River, Ont., OPP in Sault Ste Marie were advised of several acts of damage in the Hwy 552 East area on Saturday night or Sunday morning.

It appears that someone removed some emergency numbers and mailboxes from the end of driveways on Bellvue Valley Road in Goulais River. At about 2:20 a.m. on Sunday morning a homeowner in the 500 area of Hwy 552 East had their front window smashed by someone throwing an object at the window.

Later in the morning a resident in the same area of Hwy 552 East reported damage to the tin roof of his house by someone throwing a large rock at the roof.

CAR THIEF EXPERIENCES AN “IDENTITY CRISIS”

Garden River, Ont., One of the two car thieves that were tracked down by a police dog on Saturday appears to have a problem knowing exactly just who he is.

On Saturday morning at about 11:00 a.m. Officers with several area police services responded to suspects on the loose from a stolen vehicle in Garden River. Upon being captured one of the suspects identified himself as Jeffery Spencer of Brampton.

With the assistance of the Ministry of Correctional Services it has been learned that the man really is twenty four year old Bradley Peter WAITE of Brampton, Ont.,

As a result of Mr. Waite’s “identity issues” he will now face even more criminal charges than his car thief counterpart. Both are expected to appear in Sault Ste Marie bail court Monday morning.
