Charges laid in domestic incident LAIRD TOWNSHIP – On August 9, 2014 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic incident in Laird Township.

LAIRD TOWNSHIP – On August 9, 2014 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic incident in Laird Township.

It is alleged that a female received non-life threatening injuries after being physically assaulted by her boyfriend.

As a result of further police investigation a nineteen year old male was arrested and charged with five counts of Assault and four counts of Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The male is being held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on August 11, 2014.

Stolen vehicle results in youth charged with multiple offences

CHAPLEAU - On August 6, 2014 at 2:30 p.m., officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Chapleau Detachment responded to a theft of Motor Vehicle incident from a local address.

Investigation led to the arrest of a 16-year-old youth, the recovered Motor Vehicle and it's content were returned to it's owner. 

The accused stands charged with the following offences:
• Two counts of Theft Under $5,000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
• One count of Dangerous Operation contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
• One count of Mischief contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
• One count of Resist Arrest contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The youth was released from Police custody and is scheduled to appear in Chapleau, Ontario at the Youth Court of Justice on October 15, 2014.
