MALE FACING NUMEROUSE CHARGES (Iron Bridge, ON.) – On August 25, 2011 at 10:00 p.m. East Algoma OPP received a call advising a male had just entered a house with a handgun and was threatening the occupant.
MALE FACING NUMEROUSE CHARGES

(Iron Bridge, ON.) – On August 25, 2011 at 10:00 p.m. East Algoma OPP received a call advising a male had just entered a house with a handgun and was threatening the occupant. Upon arrival police learned that the home owner was alone in his residence when he heard a knock at his door. When he got up to see who it was he was met by a male standing in his house holding a handgun. The male made threats towards the homeowner before leaving. Police attended the suspect’s residence and at 1:18 a.m. police took the male into custody. Charged is 56 year old Randy MCKEACHNIE of Iron Bridge. MCKEACHNIE is charged with the following criminal offences:

1) Assault with a weapon
2) Break and Enter into a dwelling house
3) Use firearm while committing an offence
4) Pointing a firearm
5) Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
6) Unlawfully in a dwelling house
7) Uttering a threat

MCKEACHNIE was held in custody and is being sent for a bail hearing in Sault Ste Marie on August 29, 2011.

THEFT/MISCHIEF AT LOCAL BUSINESS

(CHAPLEAU, ON.) – On August 28, 2011 Superior East OPP in Chapleau were advised of mischief to a motor vehicle at a local business on Parliament Blvd., in Chapleau. Theft of a tire and two rims was also reported. Police investigation is continuing. Anyone with any knowledge of this theft/mischief is asked to call The OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.

STUNT DRIVER CHARGED

(WHITE RIVER, ON.) – On August 27, 2011 Superior East OPP in White River were patrolling southbound on Highway 17 south of White River in Vasiloff Township. A northbound BMW bearing Alberta licence plates was noted travelling at a high rate of speed and locked in on RADAR at 145 kph in a posted 90 kph zone. The vehicle was stopped and the male driver was advised of the infraction.

As a result Hani EL MAIS age 27 of ST. ALBERT, Alberta stands charged with “Stunt Driving” contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. His Alberta Driver’s Licence was seized for 7 days. The vehicle he was operating was also seized for 7 days. The accused will appear in Wawa Traffic Court on November 16, 2011 to answer to the charge.

MULTIPLE BICYCLE THEFTS

(WAWA, ON.) – Superior East OPP in Wawa has received numerous complaints of bicycle thefts in the Wawa area over the past several weeks. The OPP would like to remind bicycle owners to ensure their bicycle is properly locked up and that all relevant information is recorded. This includes the make, model and serial number of your bicycle. In addition numerous abandoned bicycles have been turned over to the Wawa OPP detachment.
