LOCAL MALE CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On August 7, 2010 at approximately 3:02 a.m. police attended the local hospital regarding a possible assault.

On scene police learned that the victim had been allegedly assaulted when leaving a party.

Charged with Assault is Matthew RICHER (18) of Elliot Lake.

RICHER is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on October 5, 2010.

BREAK ENTER AND MORE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – While on general patrol on August 3, 2010 officers of the East Algoma OPP were advised of a possible break enter and theft.

Police attended the business on Brunswick Walk and through investigation learned that sometime after the closing of the business the night before, unknown person(s) gained access to the business and removed several items.

Investigation revealed a possible subject. The subject was located a short time later by police and arrested.

Charged with the following is Donald James JACOBS (51) of Elliot Lake.

Break and Enter
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000.
Breach of Probation X2
Possession of Break In Instruments

JACOBS remains in custody.

DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – While conducting general patrol on August 7, 2010 at approximately 8:24 a.m., an officer of the East Algoma OPP attended the Nordic Mine Monument just off highway 108.

A vehicle was in the area and through investigation the driver was charged.

Charged with the following is Joseph Paul PHELAN (55) of Elliot Lake.

Impaired and Exceed 80

PHELAN is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on September 7, 2010.

HARRASSMENT CHARGES FOR LOCAL MALE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – August 4, 2010 police received information of possible harassment.

Investigation revealed that the subject had allegedly been harassing the victim for a long period of time.

Charged with Criminal Harassment is John Adrian Phillip WARE (45) of Elliot Lake.

WARE remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
