26th December 2008 / Motor Vehicle Accident At approximately 12:30 p.m. Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. responded to a two vehicle accident on Hwy #556, Deroche Township.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. responded to a two vehicle accident on Hwy #556, Deroche Township. The driver of a 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser had failed to negotiate a curve striking a 2008 Toyota Rav 4. Both drivers and 4 occupants received minor injuries while the vehicles sustained significant damage. Charged with fail to share roadway under section 148(1) of the Highway Traffic Act is Gordon Moore of Sault Ste. Marie.


27th December 2008 / MVC

At approximately 12:45 p.m. Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. responded to a single motor vehicle accident on Hwy #556, Deroche Township. The driver, Reginald Hurtubise of Searchmont lost control of his 2001 Dodge Caravan striking a snow bank and rolling over. The driver received minor injuries and the vehicle sustained minimal damage. No charges were laid.

28th December 2008 / Two MVC’s

On the 28th December 08 at approximately 3:00 p.m. Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P responded to a single motor vehicle accident on Hwy #17, Havilland Township. A 2003 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Talaat Nassrallan of London Ontario lost control causing the vehicle to enter the ditch and rollover. The driver was not hurt and the vehicle sustained significant damage. No charges were laid.

On the 28th December 2008 at approximately 4:25p.m.

Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. responded to a two vehicle collision on Hwy #17 in Tilley Township. The driver, Stephanie Roy of Sault Ste. Marie was traveling south in her 2003 Chevrolet sedan when she struck 2008 GMC Canyon pick-up also traveling south as the driver was attempting to pull-over. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and no injuries were reported. Roy was charged under section 158(1) Highway Traffic Act (Follow too close).

28th December 2008 / Theft of Snowboard

A 2007 Burton snowboard value $500.00 was stolen over the weekend from Searchmont Ski Resort. Anyone with information is asked to call Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. or Crimestoppers.

27th – 28th December 2008 / FESTIVE RIDE PROGRAM

A total of 9 Festive RIDE checks were conducted over the weekend at various locations in the Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. Detachment area. No charges or 12 hour suspensions were issued.
