WAWA – On Thursday February 4, 2016 members of the Superior East Wawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting radar patrols on Highway 17 in the Township of Vasiloff when they observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

The driver was stopped for a traffic violation and as a result of this investigation police arrested and charged Michael Brandon VALLANCE (26) of Marathon, Ontario with the following offence;

  • Adult Possession of a Schedule II Substance- Cannabis Marijuana under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Vallance was released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of March 7, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Wawa, Ontario.

Stolen trailer

DEROCHE TOWNSHIP – Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating the theft of a snowmobile double wide trailer from Northland Lake landing in Deroche Township.

The trailer is described as a 12 foot long 2010 Triton, black in colour with an Ontario licence plate K5215N. 

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.

Truck driver charged with assault

WHITE RIVER – On Friday February 5, 2016 members of the Superior East White River Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident at a local business in White River regarding an assault complaint.

As a result of this investigation police arrested and charged Ian BYSTROV (58) of Toronto Ontario with the following offence;

  • Adult – Assault contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Bystrov was release on an Undertaking entered by an Officer in Charge and is to appear at the Ontario court of Justice in Wawa on April 4, 2016.
