HOW TO ATTRACT THE ATTENTION OF THE POLICE

Echo Bay, Ont.,

An Echo Bay man learned how his vehicle and his driving habits were exactly what was needed to attract the attention of the police.

Last night at about 8:00 p.m. an officer with the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit was parked and running radar just off Hwy 17 Echo Bay. The officer saw a man on a three wheeled off road vehicle cross Hwy 17 and then travel up Church Street in Echo Bay.

By the time the officer crossed the highway the three wheeled bike had disappeared. The officer then saw the same bike reappear from a driveway onto Lake Street where the driver was pulling 360 degree turns on the roadway. The driver was stopped and it turns out that there were numerous violations to be found.

Twenty four (24) year old Calvin DOHERTY of Calabogie Road in Echo Bay has been charged with two counts of Driving While Under Suspension, one charge of Driving Off Road Vehicle With No insurance and Driving an Off Road Vehicle with No Licence Plate.

Mr. Doherty was asked to have someone else drive him to court in Sault Ste Marie on Feb 14 2007.

AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND ONE MORE TIME ---SLOW DOWN

Sault Ste Marie, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP is AGAIN appealing to the motoring public to be more aware of the weather conditions when they are driving.

We have repeatedly reminded driver to slow down when you obviously can see that the road surface is snow or ice covered. Look well ahead of your vehicle when you are driving to see if you may be coming up on a change in roadway surfaces or conditions. Drive at a speed that allows you to adjust your speed when you should know or determine that there will be or is a change in road conditions. You can do this by simply SLOWING DOWN !!!
