TWO OVERDUE FISHERMEN FOUND SAFE
Heyden, Ont.,

Two Sault Ste Marie youths were found safe and sound after spending a long day and night in the bush. In mid afternoon on Saturday 19 Jan 2002, the two 17 year olds were spending the day fishing in the Trout Lake area of Heyden. The two decided to change locations and went to a lake about a one hour snow machine ride away. As darkness approached the two had not returned as they indicated.

A search by one of the parents was conducted but he was unable to locate the two. Sault Ste Marie OPP and Sault Search and Rescue were called.

At about 1:00 a.m. the two teens were located by a volunteer searcher, safe and sound, on a trail near the lake they intended to go to. Both of their snow machines had run out of gas.
