Drug Trafficking Charges

(Blind River, Ont.) A local man was charges with two drug related offences after East Algoma O.P.P. received a complaint of drug trafficking in mid December.

East Algoma O.P.P. received information and a complaint from local school officials regarding some youth that had been involved in some drug usage.
Follow-up investigation led to several youth being questioned and arrests made.

Charged with trafficking under the controlled Drug and Substances Act and Possession of a Controlled Substance, is an 18-year-old female who’s name will not be released because she was 17 years old at the time of the allegation. She will appear in court on 11 Feb.2008

Also charged is 23-year-old Mathew TURNER of Blind River.
TURNER is charged with Breach of Probation, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.
TURNER’S court date was not yet finalized.

The quantity of drugs involved in this incident is small BUT because it involved elementary school youth the trafficking charges were preferred.

WEATHER RELATED CRASHES

(Sault Ste Marie, Ont.) From Saturday morning through to this morning Sault Ste Marie OPP have investigated eleven crashes in our detachment area.

All of the crashes were weather related. There were no report of injuries in any of the collisions. Tow trucks were needed in all the collisions either to get the vehicles out of the ditches or because of extensive damage caused to the vehicles.
