**UPDATE** WARRANT ISSUED

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP has issued a warrant for the arrest of

John Robin PERDUE 19Jul63 of No Fixed Address

PERDUE has been charged with the following;

Assault
Arson – Damage to Property
Arson – Disregard for Human Life
Utter Threats to Burn Property

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of PERDUE is asked to contact the OPP through the emergency 9-1-1 number. Do not approach the accused or attempt to make contact with him. .

Search Continues for A Missing Field Resident

(North Bay, ON) – North Bay OPP is currently searching for a missing ice fisherman who went through the ice, after dark, last night (Sunday January 22nd, 2005), in the French River off of Hunt Island.

18 year old Daniel Jarbeau of Field Ontario is missing and presumed drowned when the snow machine he was on went through the ice off of Hunt Island, French River. The French River is located at the west end of Lake Nipissing.
Jarbeau was with three other people (two males and a female from Field and Sturgeon Falls). The two other males also were in the water during the ordeal.

One of the males went back to Sturgeon Falls for help. The West Nipissing Fire Department deployed a rescue team in their air boat and were able to bring a male and female safely back to shore last night.

The OPP Under Water Search and Rescue Unit (U.S.R.U.) and the OPP Helicopter are assisting the North Bay OPP Snow Machine and Marine Unit with today’s search.


SUSPENDED DRIVER FOUND DRINKING AND DRIVING

Echo Bay, Ont., A Garden River man now has a multitude of driving problems to sort out after being caught driving under the influence of alcohol and while his licence is suspended.

Yesterday afternoon at about 2:30 p.m. an officer with the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment checked a car on Echo River Road behind Echo Bay. The officer could detect indicators that the man had been drinking. A roadside breath test was conducted and the driver failed the roadside test. The accused was returned to the police station where breathalyzer tests confirmed that he was over the legal limit to be driving. Further investigation revealed that the man’s licence had been suspended for not paying prior fines.

As a result of this investigation, forty eight year old James Daniel HALDENBY, of Eagle St, Garden River First Nation, faces one charge of Driving While Over the Legal Limit contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was also charged with Driving While Under Suspension Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario

In accordance with the Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension Program of Ontario, Mr. Haldenby has had his drivers licence suspended for a further 90 days effective immediately.
